Cllr Danny Purton

Councillor Danny Purton

Many of you will have known, or have known of, Cllr Danny Purton who passed away quite suddenly at the beginning of May after a short illness. He had been diagnosed with a brain tumour just before Christmas which initially was felt to be operable. When this proved not to be possible he was to start chemotherapy treatment, but unfortunately he died before this could have any impact. Danny had been Harlow Council’s Cabinet Member for the Environment and had led the Council’s work on improving the town’s environment, the Local Plan and the development of the Garden Town. Following a year where there has been significant loss, the sad passing of Cllr Purton has also brought more than a few things into focus.

Former colleagues of Cllr Purton have established a Just Giving page to donate to the brain tumour research charity, which has the support of his family. The Charity undertakes essential research that could help save lives. If you would like to contribute, please feel free to do so via this Just Giving page Brain Tumour Research – you can do so anonymously if you wish – and the funds will go directly to the charity. Thank you
