PRESS RELEASE  2nd July 2012

Leading Herts and Essex law firms merge

Two established firms of local solicitors have announced that they are merging to form a
vibrant regional practice with four offices in Hertfordshire and Essex.
Essex firm Attwaters is joining forces with Herts-based Jameson & Hill to create the new
partnership Attwaters Jameson Hill, maintaining exceptional client care whilst offering a
wider range of services from offices in Hertford, Ware, Harlow and Loughton.

“Our two firms shared a desire to grow and provide more services to clients in a
changing legal environment that demands specialist knowledge and expertise
covering many legal issues,” explains Rob Jameson, senior partner at Jameson
& Hill.

“From our earliest discussions, it was clear that we also shared the same ethos,
values and philosophy. Our two firms have over 140 years in legal practice, so
the new partnership will inherit traditional high standards, yet be progressive and
forward-looking.”

In addition to frequently-used legal services such as will drafting, conveyancing, family
law advice and commercial work, each firm had developed its own specialisms, such as
town and country planning, personal injury and clinical negligence.

“Our respective strengths are complementary,” says Attwaters’ managing partner
Andrew Flannagan. “The happy outcome for both firms’ clients is that the full,
extended range of services will be available to all of them at the most convenient
of a network of four offices. However, we expect most clients will continue using
their existing office, if that’s still best for them.”
Attwaters began trading in London as Attwater and Liell in 1901. Its Loughton office
opened in the 1930s and Harlow in 1954. Jameson & Hill was formed in 1982 and
established offices in Hertford and Ware. Attwaters Jameson Hill will have 14 partners
and about 85 staff.
