Harlow Rotary Club
The Rotary presentation at Harlow College extends the co-operation between the Harlow Rotary club and the College over the last year. It’s about an awareness of what Rotary is all about supporting local, district, national and international support systems and projects together with friendship and fellowship amongst its members.
One of the legacies of the tie up between Harlow Rotary Club and Harlow College is that the college are about to become a Corporate Member where they hope to encourage the many opportunities that Rotary offer to young people.
New membership is a clear problem issue within Rotary worldwide. I many cases Rotary is perceived to be an old white male dominated business luncheon club. Sheila Clow our current club president who attended your meeting this morning demonstrates that this is not the case. Claire Pavitt of the Rotary Club of Thurrock Gateway is under 30 and has already held the office of President of her club and is now aa Assistant District Governor. Eve Conway who attended Harlow College as a young student journalist and won a Rotary scholarship to study in the USA is this year’s UK Rotary President.
Our presentation will include also speakers from our District 1240 Essex plus Bishops Stortford and Sawbridgeworth clubs on most aspects of what Rotary offers.
We are inviting all of our local clubs to try to encourage possible new members to attend our meeting together with members of the Harlow Chamber of Commerce. If you could circulate details of our event to your members it would be most appreciated. Apart from business colleagues if you believe you know someone that might like to be of service to the community and the world please invite them along to the presentation.
